Doan Khue Tran
Doan Khue Tran is currently a junior at Boston College studying Political Science and Philosophy, in addition to pursuing a minor in Management and Leadership. Recognized for her work in activism and women’s rights advocacy, Doan Khue is deeply committed to bringing awareness to the unique challenges that migrants—especially female migrants and migrant workers—face. To this extent, she has utilized her position as a youth advisor to the Board of Directors of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to establish a campaign to highlight the contributions of women migrant workers to economic and social development while also calling attention to the relative economic and social deprivations that they face. As the co-commissioner of the Girl Scout of the United States’ youth management team, she has also led/served as mentor on many projects aimed at improving migrant rights, female political representation, and migrant workers’ quality of life. In addition, she is also currently a political affairs and global governance research scholar with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to bring awareness to the securitization of movement and migration in the EU15.
At Boston College, Doan Khue is an editor for her school’s political science journal—Colloquium. She is also the vice president of the Boston College chapter of Leading Women of Tomorrow, and is a member of the Liturgy Arts Group.
As a child of Vietnamese immigrants, and inspired by her time as an intern for the Council on Foreign Relations and Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, Doan Khue hopes to be an advocate and change-maker for women in politically-underrepresented communities in their fight for equality and representation. In her free time, Doan Khue likes to do pottery, practice perfumery, or bake passionfruit cakes.
